If Draco can be FULLY repaired at a lower cost than you'd spend transplanting the parts to a new shell, then do the repairs. You've had many good years with that car, and put a lot of time and effort into building it. Those years -- the good memories of track days and road trips, the camaraderie, pride in ownership and recognition that's wrapped up in Draco's history will always be with you. An accident can't take that away. By the same token, if the car cannot be FULLY repaired at a reasonable cost, then attempting to bring it back to "life" will be a time-sucking, money-wasting, and emotionally draining experience. In the end, you'll wind up with a car that's a crippled shadow of its former "self." If a car has a life, and -- as owners of those cars -- we are the masters of their fate, then our connection to them is similar to our connection to pets. At some point (hopefully in the far distant future), you may have to decide whether to put Kronk out of his misery. You'll still have your memories of Kronk in his prime. There's no replacing him. But a new puppy opens the door to making more good -- just different - memories. A new Z would be the same way.
